NSWMA Programs & News

The National Solid Wastes Management Association (NSWMA) is the trade association that represents the private sector companies in North America that provide solid, hazardous and medical waste collection, recycling and disposal services, and companies that provide professional and consulting services to the waste services industry. We are committed to:

  • Representing the industry before local governments, state legislatures and regulatory agencies, Congress and federal regulatory agencies (EPA, DOT, OSHA).
  • Planning events that are the place for industry leaders to network with their peers and discuss business issues.
  • Providing members with variety of complimentary publications about industry trends.
  • Providing members assistance and information to help improve their safety, efficiency and profitability.

 

Programs

Safety Programs

NSWMA and WASTEC and their members promote industry safety as a core value. Solid waste operations can pose safety risks to employees and others. Trash collection, processing and disposal are potentially dangerous activities if they are not performed by workers who are properly trained and operating equipment that is not properly maintained. NSWMA and WASTEC offer a variety of safety videos, training materials and programs to help employers and employees reduce fatalities, injuries and accidents. WasteExpo

NSWMA is a sponsor of WasteExpo, the solid waste industry's premier trade show and education event. Learn about exhibiting or attending WasteExpo 2010 in Atlanta, GA, from May 3-6.

Driver of the Year

The Driver of the Year program seeks to honor those drivers who have upheld the field of solid waste management as an honorable occupation and who have conducted themselves and operated their vehicles in a safe and responsible manner.

Carts on Parade

EIA's Women’s Council is pleased to present "Carts on Parade," a sponsored art competition that will take place at the 2010 WasteExpo. Entrants in the competition will be provided a 95-gallon wheeled trash cart that they must decorate with artwork that promotes the messages of EIAs' "Environmentalists. Global Waste Symposium

The Global Waste Management Symposium (GWMS) is an event serving the needs of the landfill community within the solid waste and recycling industry.  The Technical Program focuses on the presentation of fundamental and applied research conducted in the solid waste industry. It is scheduled to take place October 3-6, in San Antonio, Texas.
