Vulcan On-Board Scales are manufactured by Stress-Tek, Inc., founded in 1978.

The Vulcan On-Board Scale product line was introduced in response to customer requirements for reliable and durable scale solutions for on-board vehicle applications.  Initial product introductions included the Vulcan double shear beam load cell which received several patents and set industry standards for accuracy and durability.  Vulcan also pioneered and introduced the first two-wire digital electronic scale system for on-board applications to provide a more reliable electronic system for users.

Continuous development has resulted in an expansive product line of on-board weighing solutions for vehicles with spring, air, or mixed suspensions.  On-board weighing solutions for the refuse industries include systems for front loaders, rear loaders, roll-offs, side loaders, transfer tractors / trailers, and other configurations.
