The WASTE Equipment Technology Association (WASTEC) is the trade association representing companies which design, build, distribute, service and consult with respect to the equipment and technology systems that are used to collect, contain, transport, store, process, recycle, treat and dispose of the world's solid wastes and recyclable materials. We are committed to:

  • promoting the use of technology and innovation in meeting the needs of the waste services industry in a safe and responsible manner and
  • providing WASTEC members with information that will enable them to operate their business more effectively in today's highly competitive environment.

WASTEC Dues Contribution Program

Planning for WasteExpo? WASTEC members are eligible to get discount on your booth space and receive a contribution towards your dues, based on size of exhibit space.

EIA/NSWMA/WASTEC Activities @ Expo

Activities at EIA Booth - Ernest N. Morial Convention Center, Expo Hall, Tues., May 21 to Thurs., May, 23

Expo attendees should come to the EIA booth for scheduled opportunities for meet and greets with titans of the solid waste and recycling industry. Representatives from companies that provide NSWMA and WASTEC members unique business solutions and/or great discounts will be leading scheduled sessions about how they can save your company money. EIA's safety program director will be leading sessions promoting the new EIA safety manual and other EIA safety resources. EIA plans a breakfast for member prospects and a cocktail reception for current NSWMA and WASTEC members. In addition to these sorts of great activities, EIA plans to have charging stations and wi-fi available to people in its booth.

EIA Awards Breakfast - Ernest N. Morial Convention Center, Tuesday, May 21, 7:30 am

Don’t miss the EIA’s annual breakfast where the waste industry gathers to recognize committed leaders and experienced drivers for their contributions. Life-time
achievements will be recognized through Hall of Fame inductees.

FILA 5K Run - Wednesday, May 22, 6:30 am

The EIA Future Industry Leaders Alliance (FILA) is proud to present the inaugural FILA 5K Fun Run/Walk. Runners and walkers of all capabilities should come out the morning of to participate in the event. Proceeds will be used to help FILA establish a goodwill program to serve others in the association or to support worthwhile established charities. Awards will be presented to the top three male and top three female finishers. Registrants will receive an event t-shirt and water bottle. Register here.

EIA Women's Council Carts on Parade

The EIA Women's Council is pleased to once again present Carts on Parade, a sponsored art competition that will take place at the 2013 WasteExpo in New Orleans. Entrants in the competition are provided a 65-gallon wheeled trash cart that they may decorate with artwork. Entrants' decorated carts will be prominently displayed at WasteExpo and in a parade on the show floor.

The EIA Women's Council is excited to offer environmentally
friendly shopping at WasteExpo. Various items related to our industry, including the popular “Got Trash?” shirts, will be available for purchase near the show floor at the Convention Center. The profits from the sale of these items support the Women's Council program which fosters professional development, networking and student scholarships.

Annual Membership Meeting Happenings

  • The 2012 WASTEC Board of Governors elected by the membership was officially announced at the 2011 WASTEC Annual Conference.
  • The 2012 WASTEC Annual Conference was held March 6-8th at the Mayfair Hotel and Spa in Coconut Grove, Florida. See photos from these meetings at the EIA Facebook page.

EIA Women’s Council Scholarships

The EIA Women’s Council (WC) announced the recipients for its three $5,000 2012-2013 academic scholarships. This scholarship program assists qualified individuals in their pursuit of education that will lead to careers in the environmental industry. All employees whose companies are members of the NSWMA or WASTEC and their dependents are eligible to apply. Since the program’s inception in 2007, the Women’s Council has awarded more than $50,000 in scholarships to 21 students. (Learn about scholarship recipients here.)
