Healthcare Waste Institute Recent Activities
The Healthcare Waste Institute recently did the following:
- Commented on proposed rulemakings such as the U.S. Occupational Safety and Health Administration's review of the Bloodborne Pathogens Standard and U.S. Environmental Protection Agency's draft best management practices on pharmaceutical disposal and proposed changes to the Universal Waste Rule.
- Developed guidance documents on a variety of compliance issues such as transportations of regulated medical waste, selection of sharps containers, and hazard communication.
- Held a two-day meeting in Washington D.C. to discuss critical issues impacting members.
- Developed the educational program for the Healthcare Waste Conference.
