Benefits of Membership:

Below is some important information about the membership benefits and activities of our our group.

Networking and Social Opportunities

  • Two Board and Membership Meetings are held each year. One is planned in conjunction with WASTE EXPO in the spring and the other is with the EIA’s Executive Round Table (ERT) Conference in the fall. During these meetings, we discuss key issues, share accomplishments, and develop activities.
  • Each year, the president of the Women’s Council plans a "members-only" conference or a tour for Women’s Council members. Check out the photos of some past tours and conferences. Past tours include visits to Westborough, Massachusetts; Phoenix, Arizona; and Chicago, Illinois.
  • Other mentoring opportunities occur for Women's Council members where members can share experience and successful strategies.
  • In addition, networking with Women's Council Members occurs through participation on any of the committees. All members are encouraged to join one of our committees to help organize the Council’s programs. Committees generally meet by conference call. The current standing committees are as follows:
    • The education committee develops the education sessions for in-person programs and for the web-based conference calls that are offered to the industry at-large.
    • The fundraising committee helps raise money to fund the Council’s programs. The “Where Does My Garbage Go?” coloring book sponsorship and the Carts On Parade program held at WasteExpo in Atlanta are two current fundraising programs. The bi-lingual coloring book has been a terrific fundraiser for the Council as well as providing a much needed educational tool about our industry.
    • The marketing committee helps to promote the Council.
    • The membership committee keeps the members connected and involved.
    • The scholarship committee reviews applications for the annual academic scholarship award.
  • Educational Programs and Resources

  • The education committee plans three web conferences each year. These sessions are scheduled around the lunch hour to encourage participation. The sessions are open to all EIA/NSWMA/WASTEC members and help meet our goal of providing education.
  • In addition, the Women's Council sponsors other educational programs at Waste Expo in the spring and the EIA Executive Round Table meeting in the fall.
  • We make other information/resources available to Women's Council members through a password-protected "members-only" section in our website (www.eiawomenscouncil.org). You will find a lot of information by taking a few minutes to click around it. Upon joining, new members get an email with a personalized user ID and Password. Current resources include a complete member roster, operating guidelines, budgets, and board books from the past two years.

Cost of Membership

Women's Council membership costs $100 for one to two participants per company and $250 for three to five participants. Please call for dues information for six or more participants. Employees of all NSWMA/WASTEC member companies are eligible for full Women's Council membership. You are eligible for an affiliate membership if your company is not a member of those two associations. Some council-sponsored events may require additional fees.
