(Indianapolis, Ind.) – The Future Industry Leaders Alliance (FILA), a council for young professionals within the national trade association representing the U.S. environmental services industry, treated 25 children from the Boys & Girls Clubs of Indianapolis to a pre-season football game between the Indianapolis Colts and the Washington Redskins at Lucas Oil Stadium on Friday, August 19.
"It was a really special night for all of us," said Sean Steves of Republic Services in Oklahoma City and chair of the FILA committee that donated the tickets.
"FILA's donation of these tickets put smiles on the faces of many kids who have never attended a Colts game, even though they live within a few miles of the stadium," said Jeff Gasior, the Community Relations Manager of the Boys & Girls Clubs of Indianapolis.
FILA is dedicated to the professional development of the future leaders of the industry. FILA is holding its fall meeting on September 26-27 in Indianapolis. Steves noted that the group had considered selling the tickets to offset some of the costs of the upcoming meeting, which are usually paid by meeting fees collected from attendees. But the FILA executive committee agreed that donating the tickets to the Boys & Girls Clubs of Indianapolis was a much better use for them.
"FILA members feel really proud to have been able to do this. Our fall meeting attendees will arrive in Indianapolis knowing that their alliance was able to give back to the community," said Steves. "In addition to the training and industry education that are always part of our meetings, encouraging this kind of service is extremely important to developing the leaders of tomorrow."
