Solid Waste Industry Keeps Arizona Clean

Republic Services and Waste Management Partner with Keep Phoenix Beautiful in Neighborhood Cleanups

In addition to their core business of collecting and managing Arizonans' trash and recyclables, some of Arizona's largest solid waste companies work with communities on neighborhood cleanup efforts. In Phoenix, the solid waste industry partners with Keep Phoenix Beautiful on such efforts. Both Republic Services and Waste Management, Inc., donate dumpsters to Keep Phoenix Beautiful for community cleanups that they organize with the Phoenix Parks & Recreation Department and/or local communities.

Republic Services donates a dumpster approximately every week to Keep Phoenix Beautiful for cleanups. From July 1, 2011, to June 30, 2012, Republic services donated 63 roll-offs (40 yard containers).

In addition, Republic Services' crews also have participated in events/projects too. From July 1, 2011, to June 30, 2012, 120 Republic Services' staff volunteers gave 465 hours of community service.

Keep Phoenix Beautiful is an affiliate of Keep America Beautiful that has been active in Phoenix since 1982 to involve and educate residents about recycling management and beautification practices. Keep Phoenix Beautiful organizes litter prevention and recycling initiatives. They help arrange cleanup events, providing Phoenix residents with roll off bins for community cleanups, cardboard trash boxes for special events and landfill passes for special situations.
